Five Senses - What is more important?

Things have been going out of control in my life; a better way of stating it more powerfully will be "I have been allowing things to go out of control in my life"So, I decided that I am going to do a few things that will involve taking care of myself and my needs too. One of the things that I enjoy is writing and I had let that go for a while. I follow the Personal Excellence blog diligently and there is a 21 Day journal challenge. I am devoid of creativity now because of worry. So I am going to use the 21 day challenge to feed my blog posts.

Today's challenge is about our 5 senses - Smell, Sight, Touch, Taste and Hear - which is more important to you? At first I thought that this is a no brainer; I will choose sight over everything else. I can see people's emotions, reactions and their way of being, beauty and ugliness and everything in between and make adjustments to my mental makeup accordingly.

However, I also realize the importance of touch; especially in someone's hour of need. I reach out and touch people who I care about extremely. I hug my parents just because I want to; I touch my grandma in the hospital everyday because I don't know when it is going to be my last chance. When I hug someone, I feel the love and support. Not to mention the fact that touch is the ultimate expression of love between a man and a woman.

Considering everything else, Touch is the most important sensation to me.

The fives senses of Saptham, Sparsham, Roopam, Rasam and K(g)andham(viz., sound, touch, sight, taste and smell) manifested as five forces viz., Sky, Wind, Fire, Water and Land and them as 5 Indriyas trapped by our 5 sense-organs have been dealt greatly in our past literatures. Happiness do not come from these as they exist as tools. Happiness comes from what we do with them. Which is important is answered by our age-old story of How the organs fought within themselves as to who is big.
